Rolex is famous for its chronometer-certified watches - many Rolex dials proudly bear the words Superlative Chronometer Officially Certified. These watches carried movements that had passed official chronometer testing.
The Precision designation, by contrast, was used on Rolex watches whose movements were not submitted for this official certification.
